Your understanding of reality is only as great as your ability to explain it
Learning things is great. So is explaining things. I like to ensure the former by doing the latter.
Bayes' Theorem
You probably learned and forgot about Bayes' Theorem at school. That's a pity, because it actually is a really cool part of statistics and according to some corners of the internet it is very useful for understanding reality.
Misleading Statistics
Numbers don't lie... Or do they? You can express the same data in very different ways and people will come to very different conclusions. Knowing how seems pretty useful.
The Trouble with Definitions
A lot of the time specific words make communication easier. Sometimes they don't. We should get better at telling those situations apart.
What am I looking at?
For some reason, I really enjoy learning and explaining things. What you saw above is a selection of presentations I created in my spare time. They are intended for lay audiences and should be seen as an introduction to a subject, not as a full explanation.
How to use them?
Those presentations were created using reveal.js and are hosted with GitHub Pages. Clicking on the titles will bring you to the full presentations. You can navigate using your arrow keys.
Since those presentations were originally designed to be accompanying a live talk, they might be confusing on their own. For this reason I added some additional explanations below the original slides.
